Im a film wedding photographer in London. This means I primarily shoot weddings in and around London (although I also shoot a few destination weddings each year – mainly France and Italy)….But what I wanted to share today was a little about being a London Wedding Photographer and what my style is. Because there are so many London wedding photographers who do you choose to be your wedding photographer and how do you determine what their style is?

My style is beautiful, classic and light (as opposed to a dark filter – which can often make photographs look edgy and cool but also accentuate dark shadows under eyes – not flattering). This leads me on to being a flattering wedding photographer. Perhaps silly to even mention – surely everyone classes the quality of the photograph based on how good they look right? But sometimes in the thrill of seeing an epic nightime shot with a couple, or pictures of the gritty details which appeal, you may forget to check out the portraits. Or maybe there just arent any portraits in the gallery to see. Yes it may feel like you dont want to have a few directed photos taken but I promise afterwards if you are desperately hunting through your wedding photographs to find a picture of you which is beautifully composed, you look amazing and is timeless and dont have one, this can make you have a little twinge of regret.

So here’s a few photographs to highlight what kind of style I photograph in…One which will stand the test of time and make you and your wedding look stunning….and in terms of taste, Im definitely one for natural colours, hand dyed linens, boho looking hair and natural makeup. Where the dress is structured yet not fussy and where there is a great party in the evening with dancing under the stars.

All photographs taken on film using Contax 645, film portra400 and processed by Richard Photo Lab. (I also shoot digital especially the evening when you need super fast shutter speeds and low light capability).

Pembroke Lodge Wedding

Pembroke Lodge and Richmond Park hold such a special place in my heart. As a London wedding photographer and someone who has roots here, I have memories of the ‘Christmas morning walk’ across Richmond Park, getting engaged here, spending far too much time sitting outside Pembroke Lodge with a clotted cream scone and coffee….So, when I got the chance to be a part of this beautiful Pembroke Lodge Wedding inspired shoot I knew it would be sensational.

Elegant with a leaning towards a slight bohemian style and creative, natural palate which suited the late summer, early autumn season in the midst of Richmond park at Pembroke Lodge I hope this inspires you to dare to think outside the traditional wedding dress, go for something fashionably elegant and beautiful (not to mention something you mix and match to wear again) and also floral colours that are bold, earthy and feel part of the season.

Are you a London Bride?

If you are a London Bride-to-be check out the vendors that were part of this shoot below.

Vendor credits: Venue: Pembroke Lodge, Dresses and blouses: Kate Edmondson Bridal, Flowers: That Flower Shop, Hair and Makeup: Love Hair, Cake: The Custom Cake Boutique, Furniture Hire: Classic Crockery, Tableware and all crockery: Classic Crockery, Stationary: Gemma Milly, Ring: The Vintage Ring Co

Also a little note that most if not all of these photographs were taken on film camera (contax 645) with Portra 400 (loving this film stock lately – and as its slightly brown/copper in colour tone rather than blush pink of fujifilm pro400 I thought it would mirror the aesthetic of this shoot perfectly). All processed by Richard Photo Lab in LA.
