Somerset Wedding

In a flurry of petticoats and skirts I found my bride busy sewing up the hem of her exquisite dress. Stopping to help do her bridesmaids hair, answer questions, look for shoes and generally help all of her wedding party get ready for the day. This is how she was - a carer and organiser who had great taste and a eye for a good pair of heels….The Louboutins were going on regardless of her leg she had broken just 9 weeks earlier….If you look carefully in the photographs you will see her literally being escorted up the small church pathway to the vicar by her dad and bridesmaid as walking on rather high heels was definitely still not easy.

And then the church - on the grounds of Orchardleigh House, lit by candles only. A hush went through the guests and then she arrived. The groom lifted his head to the roof and closed his eyes in that moment (see the photo below), and then the ceremony started. Beautiful, heartwarming, a lengthy address by the vicar (!?) and then smiles, hugs and joy as they were married and literally skipped down the aisle (broken leg forgotten).

Their reception in the grounds of Orchardleigh House was one of fun and laughter. Two families who had grown up together. School friends reuniting after years in the working world. Fun brothers who knew how to party, and girls who were clever, fun and gorgeous - my kind of girl. And all wrapped up in the loving embraces of the family parents watching from the sidelines. As the night sky began to lengthen over the rolling parkland and trees silently whispered I took my leave. Another bottle of gin?! had been found and the dancing was getting wild under the twinkling stars.

A couple of these photographs were part of the selection which named me as one of the top 10 wedding photographers of the year 2020 by Hitched and You and Your Wedding…And that was only possible because of my couple here. From my bride who had hunted high and low for a photographer and found me. Not a Londoner or a London wedding she found what she wanted in the style both in look and approach and for that I would suggest any bride do the same. Look carefully and with clarity at the type of photograph you want at the end of the day that will represent and showcase your wedding.

In the meantime I leave you with a selection of by couple’s wedding photographs - most of which if not all, are taken on film cameras and using negatives and film to create the photograph (rather than digital cameras). The colours are better, the tones are more subtle and it flatters so much. I’ll also link to the vendor list below.
